Рота Нино (кино)

Родился в Милане в семье музыкантов. Семья переехала в Рим, когда он был еще ребенком, чтобы завершить его музыкальное образование. С 1930 по 1932 жил в США. Учился в консерваториях Рима, Милана и Институте Кертис в Филадельфии. Писал музыку к операм и балетам, мюзиклам, выступал как дирижер. Музыку к кинофильму впервые написал в 1933 («Рабочий поезд»). Удивительно удачным было творческое содружество с Феллини («Белый шейх», «Маменькины сынки», «Дорога», «Мошенничество», «Ночи Кабирии», «Сладкая жизнь», «8 1/2», «Джульетта и духи», эпризод «Тоби Даммит» в фильме «Три шага в бреду», «Клоуны», «Рим», «Амаркорд», «Казанова Феллини», «Репетиция оркестра»). Писал музыку к фильмам и других выдающихся режиссеров — Лукино Висконти («Белые ночи», «Рокко и его братья», «Леопард»), Франко Дзеффирелли («Укрощение строптивой», «Ромео и Джульетта»), Сергея Бондарчука («Ватерлоо»), Ф. Ф. Копполы («Крестный отец» и «Крестный отец II», премия «Оскар», 1974). Мелодичные, запоминающиеся мотивы Рота тонко оттеняли замысел режиссера.

В 1999 режиссер Марио Моничелли снял документальный фильм «Волшебный друг: маэстро Нино Рота».
